Katie has always taken a keen interest in loose and colorful Impressionist and Fauvist artists such as Cezanne, Renoir and Raoul Dufy. Taking inspiration from these classic artists, she’s created a style that blends the two eras with her own unique twist.
She perceives events through this lens, entwining the tangible details of the day in an ethereal and indistinct fashion. Color and mood play a major role in the end product. When all is complete, you are given a piece that brings the day to life, through a cherished piece of art.
Katie’s live paintings become both entertainment for guests and a timeless heirloom for the host.
The Live Painting Experience
During the event, Katie begins painting on site so guests can watch the artwork come to life throughout the evening. After the celebration, the painting returns to her studio for final refinement and finishing before being delivered to the client.
This ensures the final artwork is polished and gallery-quality while still preserving the spontaneity of the live experience.

Q+A’s
-
Once you've booked Katie for your date, you are welcome to provide her with any ideas and inspiration for your painting. As the date approaches, she will reach out to gather the details she needs for the piece. On the wedding day, she will arrive to the reception site early to get settled and begin the composition before guests arrive.
As guests begin to arrive, she starts adding the important details, creating the atmosphere of the painting, capturing the feel and ambiance of your day. Typically she’s painting the bride and groom's first dance, or their ceremony/reception venue with them included. You can decide whether you would like to have your guests painted in or left out as well as the pose you'd like to be painted in.
She’ll stay until the painting is complete and can be displayed where you choose. If need be, typically for larger pieces, she will bring it home to do touch-ups. Once complete, she will have it shipped or delivered to you, unless you prefer to pick it up.
Katie’s style is more impressionistic with loose brushstrokes and vivid color. She aims for an expression of the event more than a realistic painting, while she is able to offer both styles. Her mediums for live painting can be either watercolor or acrylic depending on the size you choose.
-
Painting live creates a memorable and unique experience for the people attending the wedding. It's something they can keep coming back to to see how it progresses throughout the night. You are left with a piece of art that captures the feel and emotion of your most special day.

Katie’s home studio is based in Wisconsin, though much of her work takes her to destination wedding weekends across the United States and Europe. From historic villas and private estates to coastal celebrations abroad, she travels frequently and is commissioned worldwide. Travel is thoughtfully coordinated to ensure a seamless experience for planners and couples alike.
-
Of course! Weddings are her most popular, but she’s always up for something else. Katie has done plenty of corporate events, galas, and fundraisers.
-
The set-up is quick and simple. Typically, Katie brings a portable wooden easel to the wedding reception, paints, water jars and brushes, and a basket/bag to hold excess materials. Katie never wants her area to look cluttered, therefore she takes precautions to ensure her materials do not clash with the wedding atmosphere, or decorations. Typically, she’ll ask that the venue provides a covered high top table, though not necessary.
-
Katie is drawn to light, atmosphere, and the quiet emotion that defines a space. Influenced by the Impressionists, her work favors feeling over form and movement over meticulous realism. She is less interested in replicating a scene exactly as it appears, and more compelled to preserve how it felt to stand within it.
A wedding day is fleeting - light shifts, laughter rises and softens, embraces pass in an instant. Through expressive brushwork and a luminous palette, Katie translates these ephemeral moments into heirloom paintings that carry both beauty and memory long after the celebration has ended.
-
All of Katie’s materials are archival and museum quality, so that your painting is heirloom quality. Watercolors are created on cold-press archival cotton paper with Daniel Smith or Windsor & Newton watercolor paint, and acrylic paintings are created on stretched cotton canvas with Golden artist acrylic paint and Winsor & Newton professional acrylic paint.
Framing is not needed for the acrylic paintings as they are done on canvas. When finished, the painting can be hung directly onto the wall. Watercolor paintings will need framing and recommendations are available upon request.

If you’re looking for something petite to go on a smaller wall, the 16x20” is a great option. You can make it look bigger by adding a matte and frame. 18x24” is a versatile option as it can go on a smaller wall or be matted and framed to display on a larger wall. The 24x30” is Katie’s favorite size to paint, it just flows and is big enough to make a statement at your wedding and in your home. Lastly, the 24x36” and the 30x40” are statement sizes. If you’re looking to create a focal point in the room, here it is! These sizes may require extra touch ups post event which are included in your cost.
